Nintendo: New DS, Dubbed 3DS, Proves Nintendo Hates Me

I am excited.

This Sunday, March 28th, I am getting myself the new DSi XL. I have been planning this for months, saving money and wiping the salivation from my mouth after looking at images of it.

Then Nintendo does what they did the last time I bought a handheld from them.

They release details on a new handheld they are releasing soon.

It figures.

The last time I bought a Nintendo handheld, it was the original DS. A few months later, they released the DS Lite.

Now that I have the money, and ability to buy the new DSi XL, they are talking about the 3DS.

Lucky me.

According to SlipperyBrick.com,

Nintendo Japan announced that they will be unveiling a new 3D version of the Nintendo DS at E3 2010 in June, called the Nintendo 3DS. We’ve found some more details in addition to it being a glasses-free 3D device and backwards-compatible with your DS DSi games. [SlipperyBrick.com]

Now, I have believed for awhile that your standard DS games are going away. With the “announcement” of 3D gaming coming out in the next year or so, and the increase in DSiWare games available, this belief is all but fact.

Now, let’s be frank, these are just rumors as of yet. But Nintendo rumors tend to be more reliable than, say, adipex reviews. But they are less reliable than iPod / iPad rumors.

The end product may not be anything more than a newer version of the DSi XL.

It could also be something as groundbreaking as the iPhone.

Either way, this Sunday, I go to drop $190 into something that will be irrelevant in less than  a year.

Hooray for me.
